The Magic Place Estate Rust op Twist St Croix is a chance to turn back time and explore history. This exquisite rental home is located on a rare historic estate in the Caribbean. It’s a cherished location on the National Heritage trail, and the site of a 300-year old West Indies sugar mill. Ruins include a sugar mill, water mill, animal mill, steam engine, hospital and more. And in case you’re wondering what the name means, it means : Rest after Work.
This beautiful rustic home boasts fantastic panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and historical ruins throughout the entire 40 acre property, including its own sugar mill.
Rust op Twist’s Great House is a stately courtyard home with beach house vibes, tastefully renovated with modern day comforts in mind. The home blends classic West Indian and Dutch architecture into comfortable modern design.
Four large guest suites can accommodate 7 to 12 guests maximum. There is a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, and a beautiful expanded island and surrounding counter tops perfect for cooking up a storm and hosting magnificent parties and events.
Walk through to the comfortable great room which is wide open to the spacious screened in balcony overlooking Caribbean sunsets and sea views.
Enjoy the waterfront covered breezeway just steps from your master suite. This balcony facing the ocean and centered to the courtyard is perfect for outdoor dining and morning coffee. Offers a nice large table and rocking chairs, a large gas grill with attached one pot burner for cooking side dishes or breaking out the Lobster pot! This is one of everyone’s favorite spots on the property.
A Master suite comes furnished with with a king bed. A/C, lounging area, and 54″ smart TV and a sofa couch that turns into a queen bed. Panoramic views of the ocean and sugar mill complete with another sitting area with beautiful antique round table and rocking chairs. The master bathroom has a beautiful solid surface bathtub and separate shower with ocean views. Another bedroom down the hallway has a queen bed, TV, access to courtyard and balcony, as well as ocean and courtyard views.
A separate guest house has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, a large outdoor screened balcony with grill, a large Master bedroom w/King bed and a second smaller bedroom with Queen bed. The living room has a very comfortable sleeper sofa, a Smart TV, Internet and wifi.

This property is absolutely beautiful, from the views to the cottage. We spent most of our time up on the screened porch where we could see and hear the ocean.
The property manager went above and beyond with suggestions and information about what to do, where to eat and what to bring. Linda was always available for questions prior to our arrival and Fitzroy was always around if a need arose.

Quiet Cozy Cottage

We loved staying at “The Magic Place”. It was such a respite from our busy lives. Our host was very helpful and thoughtful. Few cars pass on the road and it is very quiet. The screened in patio was a great place to spend our evenings, listening to the waves and enjoying the warm night air. The view over the Caribbean from the mill is spectacular, as is the drive in and out along the edge of the sea.. The caretaker showed us the waterfalls in the rain forest and brought us fresh aloe.
