Davis Bay Beach, often called Carambola Beach, sits on St. Croix’s north shore in front of the Renaissance Carambola Resort. The beach is known for its wide stretch of sand, dramatic green hills, and one of the most scenic coastal settings on the island. While the resort occupies the shoreline, the beach itself is public and can be accessed by visitors.

Because Davis Bay faces the open Atlantic on the island’s north side, water conditions can vary depending on swell. On calm days the water is clear and inviting for swimming or snorkeling near the rocky edges of the bay. On days with stronger surf, the beach is still a beautiful place for a walk along the sand or for photos of the lush rainforest hills rising behind the shore.

This is great for just relaxing in the sun, splashing around with a suite of water activities available, as well as brunching at the beach restaurant and bar.

It is a resort beach, so there are beach chairs and hammocks tucked among the trees for guest use. There is a scuba dive shop onsite offering scuba and snorkel rentals. The Carambola Golf Club St. Croix is nearby and open to resort guests and other guests as well. There is also tennis available for guests of the resort.

Getting There

Drive along the north shore going west until you see signs for Renaissance Carambola Beach Resort. Resort guests can drive through the gate and park below, while other visitors can park your car in the upper parking lot outside the guard gate. The public beach access is just outside the resort on the right side, a staircase leading down to the beach – ask at the guard at the gate if you need help locating it. Follow the signs at the bottom of the steps to get to the beach. Or drive past the guard gate and park in their hotel/beach parking lot.
